I can’t believe I forgot to post about this. We took Colin to his first Mavs game. It was Friday the 16th against the Celtics. We thought we’d try that game first since the Celtics are such a chump team this year that if we left early no biggie (boy were we wrong for that game). But Colin did GREAT! He stayed in his seat the whole time, he cheered. The only thing he was rather persnickity about was food and drink, which he did whine somewhat about. But, despite the fact that he stayed up WAAAAY past his bed time, he did really, really good. Now I’m excited to take him to another one!

Yay spring! I love spring.
It’s been a while since I really posted. It has been such a busy semester, though. The last nine weeks were super involved, but hopefully, things will slow down now at school. Fingers crossed.
We just had our spring break. Way, way too short. I did get a chance to go out and visit my dad. It was really nice because Jon and Penny were out there too. I always like it when we’re all out there together. So I stayed with dad a couple of days, helped him get some stuff for his storage shed he is going to build. THen I basically came home and did a whole lot of nothing. Worked out alot. I really can’t wait until summer when I can go to the gym in the morning and stay for like two hours. I got to do that over break and it was so nice. Now that school is back in full swing I have to go in the evening and only stay for like an hour. Last night I didn’t even go at all because I was so worn out.
I also started playing disc golf again. I played a handful of time a long time ago back when I was still dating Matt. We’d go play with our friend Eric. I totally sucked. I told Rob about it a couple of months ago, so we bought a cheap set of disc and played down at the park down by our house. I still suck at it. But it is still a whole lot of fun, and Rob liked it, too, so hopefully that’s something we’ll keep doing.
And I have finally got around to setting a budget. I’m so excited about it, as stupid as it sounds. You’d think this is somethign I would have done a log time ago. My sister has always had a real strict budget that’s been successful for her, and I’ve always wanted to emulate it. So I finally buckled down and did it. So now hopefully I’ll have the car paid off by the end of the year. That’ll save about 3 years of payments. And then I can start shoving the money that I was paying there into savings. I’m ready to buy a house. Mentally that is. I know that I’m years away from ataining it, but hopefully by setting down on a budget now, I’ll get a good start. Now if only I could get rid of those student loans. If I could do that, I’d be sitting pretty. I need an anonymous benefactor, like Pip. Donations, anyone?

I know I’ve been a little lax in posting. Sorry bout that. But I hope that everyone had a happy Valentine’s Day. Mine was pretty good. The kids were decent, and I got some sweet headphone from Colin, April, and Rob. This past weekend was what was most fun, though. On Saturday I had lunch with Keri, who I hadn’t seen in a long timel, so it was good to see her. We went to Two Rows down on Greenville. And on Sunday Sherry came out to go see the Body Worlds exhibit. That was awesome! Exhausting, but awesome. It was amazing to think that the body could look like that. I’d go see it again, which I just might if Jon comes out to see it.
Other than that is has just been one tiring week after another. Three weeks until spring break though, so yay for that! I have no plans yet, of course, but that’s okay. Sometimes the best plans are just to rest, rest, rest.

I’d like to say that I found this all by my lonesome, but I stole it from Keri’s site. If you are a geek, then you will find this very funny. Heck, most non-geeks (my age at least) should find it funny.

I can’t believe that the year is almost done. I also cant’ belive my Christmas break is almost done. It just didn’t seem long enough. It’s been a really good break, though. I went out to Benbrook Christmas Eve to see my family. I got some really neat-o gifts. We got my dad the most awesome gift. It was a print of a painting done by a former Dallas Cowboy of the “Doomsday” defense. The print was signed by all the players in the painting, including the painter. We got it matted and framed. I thought it was pretty awesome anyway.
And I’ve been working out like a fiend. Yesterday, I hit 9.5 miles! And that was jogging non-stop the first 60 minutes! Woot! Two months ago I would never have thought that I could do that. It definately creates a sense of accomplishment to do something like that.
One of the highlights of the holiday was Christmas dinner. Dinner at Thanksgiving and Christmas has always been somewhat of a sore spot with everyone because it always seems like everyone is so stressed out and it is just a meal. And it about near kills my grandmother everyyear. So at Thanksgiving I convinced my grandmother that I was taking over Christmas dinner. And by me taking over, I pretty much let my sister and dad take over. But the dinner was great. We had a Cowboy Christmas dinner of bar-b-que. My dad got the meat catered and everyone else just brought the sides. It was probably one of the best Christmas dinners I’ve had in a long, long time. And it was really nice to have a Christmas meal that wasn’t exactly like Thanksgiving dinner.
And now I just have a few days until break is over. Bleah.

It’s the first day of winter break! Yay! It has been a very long and exhausting semester, so I’ve been really looking forward to this break. I’ve got almost all of my Christmas shopping done. I thought I was completely finished, but I forgot about one last thing I have to go get, so I’ll do that tomorrow. If I don’t get it tomorrow, then it is online gift card time, because I am definitely going shopping this weekend.
Not much has really happened between the last time I posted and now. I’ve been going to the gym like crazy. Man, I really love working out. I’m hooked on the elliptical machine. I can go almost 6 miles on it now. Pretty good considering how slow I was when I started. Plus my gym is so awesome. Fifteen bucks a month for unlimited access? Can’t beat that. Plus working out helps to decrease stress level, and with my work schedule that’s just icing on the cake.

Well, when it was all said and done it wasn’t nearly as dramatic a winter storm system. Don’t get me wrong. It’s cold as hell here and there’s snowy stuff on the ground. And it snowed/iced almost the entire day. But listening to the weather the past few days you’d think we were anticipating another ice age. It did give me a chance to wear my new hat and mittens. I got them over Thanksgiving. They used to belong to my mom. I like them.
After this week there are only two and a half more weeks until Christmas break. Finally gave my dad and sister my Christmas list. I had a hard time figuring out what to ask for. I always have the worst time coming up with things that I want for Christmas. I don’t really need anything. I remember last year we got some cash and a card from mom saying she owed us some presents. We, of course, never got any presents, and I was totally okay with that. I know that there were some different circumstances going on last Christmas, but I would probably be okay with no presents again. But I do want to buy presents for my family, so I guess it can’t be a no-present Christmas if I give presents.

I very tired seeing people on cell phones. It used to irritate me the most when I saw people driving while on their cell phone. Anymore, you can’t drive anywhere without finding one person on their cell phone. I try to limit my driving cell phone time as much as possible, but I will admit to answering a call or two on the road. But I’m talking about these people who have lengthy phonce calls without really paying attention to the fact that they are still driving a car.
But today I witnessed something totally and completely irritating. While ordering lunch today at Subway, a man got behind me in line. We’ll call this man “Biff”, because, given his personality at the moment, he really could have no other name. Truly the modern fraternity type. The first thing you should know about Biff is that he walked into the place already on his cell phone. During the time that it took him to order his sandwich, he made three, THREE separate phone calls. Now, I’m sure most of you have been to Subway before, and you know it’s a fairly speedy process. THREE phone calls. And it was the most inane conversation. I’m sure to Biff it was really important, but I don’t need to hear him talk, rather loudly at that, about how they are going to “settle this once and for all” on the golf course (it really was golf, as I found out later) or how he not going to stand for whatever decision at work and that he’ll just up and quit. I’m sure it was really all very important to him. But I could give a rat’s ass about, and quite frankly I don’t need you stalking me down the Subway ordering line going on and on about it. THREE CALLS. I cannot stress that last point enough, but it really, really irritated me.
Anymore, when I see guys like that on the phone, I always wonder if they’re really on the phone. You always see these reports (like last night on the news) about how men will use their cell phone in public to impress people. Not that Biff was out to impress the patrons and employees of Subway, but I’m still suspicious now.
I think one of the reasons I get so annoyed with people who use their cell phone like a toy is because I can remember what a lot of my friends did when the little cell phone came out and it seemed like only about half of everyone had one. You know, when it was more of a novelty to have one than to not have one. Everyone would look at it, check out the ringtones, the little grey screen. I hated it when people played with their cell phones then, and I hate it now.
Okay. Rant over!
