At least for two weeks anyway. Man, today couldn’t come fast enough. I’m so ready for a break. Sunday I’m going to head out to Benbrook, and I’m really excited about that! Although Jon and Penny won’t get there until late Tuesday. So that kind of suck, but I’ll get over it. And I’m all done with shopping, so that’s nice. The only thing I have to worry about is getting an oil change tomorrow and then I’ll be set to go!
I’m sure I have more to talk about, but my brain is so worn out that I really can’t think of anything. Maybe over the break I’ll be able to remember some of the stuff that has actually happened recently and talk about it here.

I decided to take the day off today. I decided way back in like August to take the day off, and it’s been my first day off all year. Totally glad I did. I also decided that since I had the day off, it might be a good idea to go to the dentist, seeing how I haven’t been in like 7 years. Seriously, 7 or so years. So needless to say I was pretty nervous as to what I would find out. Turns out, I’ve been taking really good care of my teeth! The hygenist (did I spell that right?) said it looked like I had cleaned my teeth last week, and was pretty amazed at how much plaque there wasn’t on my teeth. That made me pretty darn happy. And then on top of that I had no cavities!! Plus…the dentist said that when I come in for my 6 month check up in June I get free whitening! Woot! So best dentist visit ever.
Basically after that I just did a bunch of Christmas shopping. Now I’m almost all completely done. I think I should be able to get the rest of it done. But all in all a good day. Lots of rest. Lots of me time. No kids. Can’t get better than that.

I’ve been rather lax in posting, I know. I’ve actually had stuff to post about too. Way back near the end of October I went out to Abilene for my brother’s Halloween party. It was freezing cold, but alot of fun. I even dressed up and everything (I forgot how much fun it was to dress up!). I did wind up with a really nasty case of bronchitis, which I’m still getting over, actually. But that’ll teach me not to wear warmer clothing. Mother nature 1, me 0.
And I just got home yesterday from Benbrook for the Thanksgiving holidays. Also very cold. But I did get to see everyone there this time, and that was really good. Colton is one year old already! That’s really hard to believe! And Brodie turns one in just a few months, I think.
It seems like I’ve been so dang busy these last few weeks, and I guess I have. I’ve sort of picked up the pace in things that I do outside of school. I was taking a photography class, but I’ve sort of dropped that (i.e. stopped going). I wasn’t really getting anything out of it, and it was from 6:30 to 9:30 at night at the Preston campus. So I was basically leaving the house at 7:30am and getting home after 10pm. Just made for an exhausting day. If I was really learning anything I could use with my camera, that’d be one thing. Oh well. I really want to take some more classes, but I think I’ll wait until this summer.
Four weeks until Christmas break!

I did something today that I haven’t done in a long time: play in dirt. I saw Colin sort of picking at the dirt in one of the flower barrels (flowers have long since been gone), and asked him if he was digging in the dirt. Nope, he wasn’t. He had no idea how to dig in the dirt. Well, that’s just not right. I mean, he’s played with dirt and what not before, but to dig in the dirt is something else. So we did a lot of digging; found some worms, grubs and ants; built some dirt towers. It was all great fun. And I discovered that I really like digging in the dirt. That’s probably why I like gardening so much. And camping, whatnot. I had been in a funk pretty much most of the weekend, and this helped alot.

Want to donate some money to breast cancer research?
I had a friend send me a link to the LeanCuisine website because they are selling really cute lunch bag with half of the proceeds going to fight cancer. The bags only cost $9.95, and that includes shipping and handling; $5 goes to the Susan G. Komen fund.
Here’s what they look like:

I got a real nice treat tonight. I got to see my friend David, whom I haven’t seen in a while. We went out to eat at Scottie P’s in Allen. Turns out his route home takes him through Allen, so it was pretty convenient for both of us. It was pretty good to catch up, and it made me realize how long it has been since I’ve seen all the Abilene Homebillies.

Well, I finally had to break down and take my car to the dealer to get looked at. I tried two different places, Nash’s and Pronto Muffler, neither of which could figure out what was wrong. Well, the dealer did, to the tune of $810. And that was just the estimate. That doesn’t include taxes either. So it’ll probably be closer to $900. Good thing I started saving for a house, because now I can use that money to pay for the car. Damn.

One of my favorite shows is finally back! I love, love, looooooooooooove The Biggest Loser. Why? Because everyone is a winner! It’s not some stupid looking for love from a stranger, or trying to get a job with a slimebucket, or outlasting the housemates. It’s changing your life for the better. It’s taking a step to increase your quality of life. And since that is what everyone is competing for, everyone is always better off by the time they leave the show. It’s just a feel good kind of experience. I’s also a great motivator. It is one of my favorite shows to watch when I’m doing the treadmill at the gym. Of course, now that I’ve decided to start going to the gym straight from work, I may have to rethink my strategy.

I mentioned in a couple of posts ago that I no longer had the ferrets, but since I’ve gotten so many questions as to WHY I don’t have the ferrets, I realized that I never really told anyone what happened. I decided to get rid of them because I felt that I was neglecting in the house, and it was just unfair to them. I was feeling intensely guilty over it. So one of my students who was a animal lover volunteered to take care of them for me. So we got them moved in last spring. The home that I moved them into was way nicer than anything I could have given them, so I felt good about that. I talked to that student this week and it turns out that they have another home. They found a person who already had some ferrets, and apparently had had them for quite some time, and so it was a perfect situation for everyone. But all and all, I miss them like crazy. I love my ferrets very much.

I went to pick up my car today. When I went to get it, the keys were on the floorboard, with the door unlocked. I’d like to add that when I went up to the car to check it out, the door was obviously unlocked, and the keys were very easy to see. It was like an invitation for someone to steal my car if they wanted to. The shop was down between Plano Parkway and Park Blvd on I-75 in Plano. If you know that area of town, you know that it probably wasn’t a good idea at all to leave my car in that condition. So…..don’t take your car to Proto Muffler in Plano.
