Rock Star
It’s been a while since I posted anything of substance. Looking back on the past month, it seems like I’ve been really busy, but I can’t think of anything to say. I will say that gas by my house is now up to $3.70. Seriously? SERIOUSLY?
I only have 14 school days left! Woot! And with field day, review days, and finals, I actually only have 5 days of teaching left! I was hoping to sneak one more novel in, but there’s no way to do that with 5 days. We’ll do bunches of short stories instead. Truth be told, I’m kind of looking foward to having something to do again. Both my regs and Pre-AP have been doing sort of self-directs lessons, and I don’t have much to do. I know I shouldn’t complain about having some down time, but this has been like 2 weeks of down time. It makes the day go by so slowly. But that’s just been the nature of the beast with this novel. Oh well. 14 Days!
I’ve also been fairly geeking out every weekend. Rob bought Rock Band for PS3. Man, this game is so much fun, and I’m so ashamed to admit that! I’ll go over, and Rob, April and I will play at least once in the weekend. This weekend Dawn is bringing Brookie over to play and THAT should actually be alot of fun! I love Brookie. She is the nicest kid in the world, and she’s the kind of kid every parents wishes they had. I imagine that Dawn is going to have a small fit when this year is over and her baby goes to high school. But back to Rock Band. I’ve actually gotten really good at it. I was so proud of myself when I played The Who’s “Won’t Get Fooled Again” on the little fake drums they have. It’s alot harder than you would think!
And I have a quick book review. I recently read Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of Violent Faith by Jon Krakauer. It’s about murderers Dan and Ron Lafferty and their fundamentalist Morman religion. Actually, it was a pretty good history of Mormonism, the split the fundamentalists took, and how it has all evolved. The author splices the evolution of the Lafferty brothers and eventually the murders with all of the history, and it is just a really good read. This is the same author who wrote Into the Wild which was AWESOME! Loved that book. Still haven’t seen the movie.
Speaking of Alaska (re: Into the Wild), I may be going on an Alaskan cruise next summer. My sister and I decided that it was high time we took a family vacation, and decided that is what we want to do. My dad is all gung ho about. In fact, he’d probably go right now if he wasn’t having to wait on us. We kids obviously can’t afford to do that this summer (nor do many of us have the time), so we’re gonna save up a year and just go next summer. Woot!
